Friday, September 9, 2011

So you all know Mid -Autumn festival is around the corner which falls on next monday, 12th september 2011.. Sadly i'm not in KK that day ;( so i can't celebrate mid-autumn festival with baby this year which I've been looking forward since i don't know since when.
I'm going on a trip to somewhere :D,so i'm not in Malaysia for few days..hehe don't forget to check out my blog okay? So back to the topic, if you have been wondering what is Mid-Autumn Festival for...then continue reading my blog .
Mid Autumn Festival also known as Mooncake Festival "Chung Chau Jit" or Lantern Festival ( Tanglung Festival). It is celebrated to signify the end of harvest season for Chinese and it falls on the 15th day of the eight month in the Chinese calendar.
i can read the han zhi! = 15th :D
I'm not sure about other area in KK, but every year during Mid-Autumn Festival, there will be an event held in Foh Sang. You can see many lanterns hanging around, fireworks and some performance there. Frankly, i never been go to the lantern festival before even though i live near foh sang..haha i have to wait til next year i guess. and it's too crowded by the way..To celebrate this festival, most chinese family will have a reunion dinner and eat mooncake after that. (but it depends, some Chinese don't celebrate this way. Such as me, i eat the mooncake when ever i want:p). The shape of the Mooncake is always round and stuffed with sweet fillings such as red bean paste, lotus, yam and etc. I don't really like to eat the egg yolk..haha :P
FYI, the round shape symbolize family unity..so i guess that's why they have this reunion dinner. Some mooncake is halal, so it is eat-able by everyone..just make sure you check the ingredients first. I think some bakery shop like Southern or Multi Bake sell halal mooncake.
I ate a lot of mooncake since last month, im sorry to say this, but this (picture of mooncake below), doesn't taste good at all..what kind of mooncake is this? very soft outside, and the inside filling is hard.. hahah but it's a gift by the way..so yeah...nevermind about that.

There are few version of  folklore behind this festival such as Chang Er, The Hare, Wu Kang, the Mongolia story and so on..which i only know all this from watching TVB series..
Since i don't come from typical chinese family or live in China, so i'm not really sure which story is the correct one :D But what ever it is, i just want to wish all of you especially those who celebrating Mid-Autumn Festival, " happy be-earlier Chung Chau Jit!" :D
Well i think thats all from me, i'm leaving tonight!! so i should be packing right now :D my mum bising2 already..bubye and take care guys! :D
