Pan Mien @ Kedai Kopi Kim Min, Gaya Street

Friday, March 2, 2012

Food blogging! haha its been a while since my last food review, i know! I'm just too busy for stupid work (practical) and i don't really go out now as i get really tired whenever i finish work:(
Oh well back to the main topic then.
So yesterday, before go to work, i went to eat breakfast at gaya street with my bf. Here's my mistake, i should just go to Seapark Restaurant to eat dim sum instead of craving for stupid laksa at Kedai Kopi New Man Tai.
We reached there around 730am and the shop is not open yet.
So we went to this shop called Kedai Kopi Kim Min, which i don't really remember the location but its located near the water fountain at Gaya street. Kedai Kopi Kim Min operates from morning til night, at night the shop sell one of the famous Kam Kee Ba Kut Teh in Town and during morning, the shop sell Pan Mien.
Only Pan Mien, Yi Mien, Dumpling and "Ko Chung" available at the shop. So we ordered Pan Mien, Yi Mien and dumpling. It looks delicious on the menu.
Coffee for two! Haha i slept late and woke up early yesterday okay.
 Yi Mien ( RM6.50) rating : 2/5
 Pan Mien ( RM6.50) rating 2/5

 Prawn & century egg Dumpling. ( RM7) rating : 1/5
If you want me to be honest...this tastes pretty awful ( im sorrry).
The dumpling skin is TOO THICK and the filling is too little. It doesn't taste good at all. and they sell it for RM7 for 4 dumplings?? You serious? for that quality??? What a rip off.
Total paid for breakfast is RM24.
Sorry babe, i should have listen to you and just find parking to eat dim sum for breakfast. It will costs more than RM24 but it totally worth it.
FYI, I don't want to leave a bad review cause it might effect your decision to go here but i don't want to lie.
So its better that i don't write too much information here. haha i just leave my rating so i hope you get what i mean :)
If you want to eat Pan Mien, go to Kedai Kopi Xing Wan Pan Mien @ Damai, next to Orange Superstore. It costs only RM4.5O for a delicious bowl of Pan Mien.

Overall rating;
Food and drink : 2/5
Services : 3/5
Price : Most delicious Pan Mien i ever ate cost around RM4.50-RM5.50 only. so what do you think?

Peppermint @ Karamunsing Capital

Friday, October 7, 2011

Did you know that Peppermint serves Vietnamese food? :)
Peppermint is a Vietnamese Restaurant located at Karamunsing Capital near Ipoh Town and opposite another chicken rice shop which i forgot the name but i do remember the signboard very well, it says "something" chicken rice with 3 pictures of FISH around the signboard..haha what a weird signboard kan?
Anyway, you can also go to other Peppermint branches at Asia City and Gaya Street.
I always went to Asia City branch last time with my mum and my sister.
Peppermint serves mostly normal local food like chicken rice, noodles, spring rolls, beef stew and etc...but they serves it in Vietnamese style. Since I never been to Vietnam before, i never really try and know how the food taste like..but i think they localize it so it suit the taste bud of the local people here in KK.
I tried the beef stew noodles (Banh Mi Bo Kho) before, but to me it doesn't taste that great..but it was okay. I still  prefer Kuo Man or the Gaya Street shop beef stew way better..
Anyway, this is my first time eating at Peppermint, Karamunsing Capital branch. The shop is more spacious and cleaner :D.
We ordered Spicy Chicken Rice, Steamed Chicken Rice, Crispy Spring Rolls, Stuffed Chicken Wing and 2 chinese tea. Total paid is RM20.70 :)

Yummy spicy chicken! Smell good and delicious too! They use alot of lime in their sauce and it tastes really good. Give it a try, trust me, i never lie about food.
**Recommended**
Dave prefer something steam2 one laa...i ate this before,it tastes not bad but i still prefer the roasted spicy chicken rice:D

Just a plain rice and tastes normal also...maybe it's a Vietnamese rice? maybe buatan Malaysia....i don't know...just eat the chicken.
Vietnamese Crispy Spring Rolls RM4 .
hehe Dave wanted to try this ( i tried this before,it was okaylah, eatable).
It was a normal spring rolls, crunchy but instead of using only veggie, they use mushroom, some veggie and the thing that look like Mee hoon or Bihun...or whatever you called it.
This is Vietnamese Stuffed chicken wing (RM4)..Same thing also, they stuffed some "Meehoon" alike inside the chicken...so it taste like eating chicken wing with meehoon at the same time.:D by the way the chicken is so small in size ehhh..
As I mentioned earlier...they used a lot of lime sauce in their dishes..it really makes the food smells good and very appetizing too:)

Overall rating;
Food and drinks : 4/5
Service : 3.5/5
Price: From RM4 onwards..

My uncle always said that Sin Kee has the best Bah Kut Teh in Kota Kinabalu City.
Sin Kee is located at Kedai Kopi Kwong Tung Chai Kolombong Gaya Street.
Near Alliance Bank and next to Ming Ge Cafe ( They also rent this shop at night, so the restaurant is not that crowded).
During the day, the shop sells the Famous Kon Lau Men and at night, the shop is famous for Bah Kut Teh.
After eating there just now, besides the great taste of the bah kut teh and fast service, i am totally agree with him.
The Ba Kut Teh herbs and the sweet soup is perfectly good too!

Try Kedai Kopi New Man Tai !!
Frankly i'm not sure if it's open during weekday because i only went there on Sunday for Sunday Market @ Gaya Street. But i think they do open for business also on weekdays.
So at Kedai Kopi New Man Tai, you can either have Char Siu Fan/ Kai Fan ( Chicken Rice with or without pork) or you can also have Ngau Chap/ Laksa/Stuffed Tofu.

It's really delicious and of cause it is very cheap ( RM5 for small bowl, RM6 for Big Bowl) and It also serve in large quantity.
