Movies review: Talentime 2009 and Precious

Wednesday, August 31, 2011

First of all, happy national day to all Malaysian!! and also Selamat Hari Raya to those who celebrate Hari Raya, especially to all my muslim friends:D
So how was your holiday so far?
I didn't pulang kampung yesterday with my family because i don't feel well since monday night. hehe but i feel much better right now.
Since I don't have much things to do at home so i spent most of my time watching movies/series and online:D
So here is another movies review : Talentime and Precious 2009.

Talentime (2009)

Talentime is a Malaysian film directed by Yasmin Ahmad.
The movie was released on March 26th 2009 and it was her last film before her death in July 2009.
Talentime is about a talent search competition which has matched two hearts, Melur (Pamela chong plays as a Mixed-Eurasian girl) and Mahesh ( Indian boy with a hearing problem). It is mostly about love, understanding and accepting different races and religion in Malaysia. The storyline is simple but it has a deep meaning and very touching. There are a lot emotions going on the characters in this movie too. I really pity Hafiz's( Aizat) life in this movie. His mother has been hospitalized for brain tumor and died one day just before his talent show. That's sad :(.
I cried when i first watch this on youtube :(. And also i like the part where Bhavani (Jaclyn Victor) had this talk with her mum about different religion.
I think we should respect and accept others so we can live together under one roof happily in peace. Since God is Love so Love is God.
Regardless what religion/race you are, im sure all God want us to respect others and live in peace.
Honestly, if you ask me about other Malaysian movies,i seriously don't know what to recommend you guys to watch. The only Malaysian movie that i would watch over and over again is by Yasmin Ahmad. The settings in the film is simple plus all the characters is so talented and they actually can act! Unlike some other Malaysian movies, they exaggerate too much and "makeup ja tebal tapi parak berlakon" haha just saying. I wish for more movies from her actually. So i would say that her demise is a great loss to Malaysian Film Industry. Since today is 54th National Day in Malaysia, why don't you watch this movie? :)

Precious (2009)

Precious is a 2009 american film directed by Lee Daniels.
The storyline is based on the novel : Push by Sapphire. The staring is Gabourey Sidibe, Mo'nique, Paula Patton, Mariah Carey and Lenny Kravitz. I first watch this on Astro last week...but i forgot its on HBO or Star Movies:P
One thing for sure...damn, this movie is so sad :(
Overall, the story is focus on this 16 years old - obese girl, Claireece Precious Jones life.
She got kick out from her school because the school principal found out that she's pregnant for her second child. I feel bad because Precious is abused by her mother and raped by her own father!
She went through so many hardships in her young life.
This is a sick movie actually. How can a father do that to her own daughter??
As a result, her first child has a Down Syndrome and is being take care by her grandmother.
Later then, Precious attend an alternative school and she begins learn how to read, met some new friends that changed her life and give birth to her second son named Abdul.
At the welfare center, her mum, Mary tells the truth that Precious has been sexual abused since she was three by her father, Carl. In order to keep her man from leaving, Mary let Carl molest and have sex with Precious. Damn, what kind of mother are you!!? This type of mind set is SICK. Letting your man to have sex with your own flesh and blood is not going to make him stay or whatever it is! This reminds me of the incident happened in Malaysia, i think probably few months ago. The wife is forced by her husband to have sex with other man because the husband wants to enhance their sex life by watching his wife doing it with other guys. You f*king sick people.
She refused at first but she wants her man to be happy so she did what he asked for.
Few years later, she report it to the police and newspaper because she can't take it anymore.
Are you serious??  Why let people know after 4years??
And why would you think by doing that can make him stay and love you more??
Where is your brain actually?? It's clearly shown that he doesn't love you anymore.
If i were you, i would rather just divorce with him and go on with my life. She's a house wife i think..
So get a job, get a better life. That is why education is so important. It gives you better life and makes you think properly at least. As for me, I just don't want to depend too much on someone else. This is one of my favourite quote:
" Don't let someone become your everything because if you lose it, you have nothing left".
haha well that's only my point of view and i kinda out of the topic actually.
The last scene is of Precious walking down the street carrying Abdul and holding Mongo's hands.:D

Restaurant Eddie @ Lintas

Saturday, August 27, 2011

I guess most of you KK people heard and know where is Restaurant Eddie right?
So just in case you don't know where is the location...Restaurant Eddie is located at Lintas, next to Clinic Luyang and one row with Restaurant BTC. For your information, Restaurant Eddie is famous for serving huge portion of western food. Believe me, the food is really more than enough to satisfy your appetite! :D
Besides the huge portion of food, overall the food was not that bad....
For dinner just now, we ordered one chicken chop and one lamb chop. They also serve Fish and Chip, Sirloin Steak, Tenderloin Steak and many more. Do check out the menu too! You can see that the most expensive dish in their menu is Tenderloin Steak, which costs RM40.

2 large pieces of crispy fried chicken with baked beans, mixed veggie and french fries. RM18
damn big huh? i couldn't finish it actually.
See, i told you, they seriously serve huge portion of western food!:D
The chicken chop and the lamb chop tasted very good. I think the lamb meat was tender and meaty too. By the way, they don't serves fancy sauce on their food. so we asked for extra mint sauce to make the lamb chop and chicken chop taste more delicious.
Baby's favourite: New Zealand lamb chop, served with baked beans, mixed veggie and french fries. RM20

sorry about the flash, i use my phone to took this picture just now:D

Total paid for dinner is RM41.30 including 2 chinese tea and 1 lemon Ping :D
** i'm trying to watch my weight right now, so since i ate a lot of heavy+oily food just now, i drank a glass of cold lime water. Lime water (without sugar) is good because lime helps to cleanse your body from unhealthy toxins and very refreshing too.**

Overall rating;
Food and Drink : 3.5/5
Services : 3/5 ( they should have more workers and chef, the food is served after 30minutes..i know there are too many customer but still, a good management will lead to better services.)
Price : from RM7 onwards to RM40

Movies Review : Little Black Dress and The Change-Up

Monday, August 22, 2011

 Little Black Dress 2011 (Korean)

Yes! i am a big fan of Korean Movies/Drama or KPOP (especially SNSD)!
i love watching those pretty girls from Seoul, Korea! and I love korean style,i think they are trendy, classy and very chic at the same time, well most of them :D Seoul is like New York, but in Asian version. So, i watched Little Black Dress on sunday night at home :D haha if you really want to watch this movie, go search for the BT and download it or watch this online.
I wonder why Malaysia Cinemas never show this type of movie??
This movie is so much better than Hannah Montana the movie or JB 3D life?? oh well just saying...haha
They only promote Korean Horror movies on cinemas which is not scary at all. ok enough about that.
Little Black Dress or also known as My Black Mini Dress is release on 24th March 2011 in South Korea.
The story focus on this four best friends life after graduation and their ups and downs.
The girls first met as first year students or freshman in college and all of them has different character and family background. This story depicts challenge on their friendship, jealousies and failure of the girls after they graduate. I think the moral of the story is, if your friend is really your friend, then no matter what happen, nothing can breaks the friendship bond and they will always be there for you when you need someone. So better treasure and cherish your friendship :)
Jealousy is our enemy, it is so powerful until it can break and ruin any relationship.
haihh...so be happy for your friend for what they have achieve.haha :)
By the way, this is a korean comedy and drama movie staring Yoon Eun-Hye, Park Han-Byul, Cha Ye-Ryeon and Yoo In-Na. hope you enjoy this movie :D I give a rating of 7.5/10 for this movie.

The Change-up

The Change-up staring Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman is another comedy movie.
i love Ryan Reynolds~ This movie mainly is about the two best friends life, Mitch (Ryan Reynolds) and Dave ( Jason Bateman) accidentally switches bodies after they peed on the fountain.
Dave is a married man and an overworked lawyer, while Mitch is a single man who live life to the fullest.
To Mitch, Dave has it all, but to Dave, living a stress free life without responsibility would be a dream come true. So on one night, the guys were talking about how they envy about each life and so on. Then they wake up in each other's bodies and soon discover that each other's lives are nowhere near as rosy as they once seemed.
I think the Tatiana part and the "light porno" is funny but a little gross..hahaha
This movie is kinda similar version of Freaky Friday and It's a boy girl thing minus the 18sx scene.
I'm not sure if this movie will be release in our cinema cause it contains some 18SX :P, but since hangover 2 is released in cinema,so i guess, maybe?
Overall, this movie is quite funny but not as funny as it should be, but still watchable :)
I give a rating of 6/10.

Raya Cookies : Almond London, Pineapple tart and Kuih Bahulu

Raya is around the corner, i think probably next week...?? i'm not so sure actually :D
Anyway, my sis ordered some homemade cookies from her colleague and it cost around RM70 per box..expensive huh? but never mind, it's not my money anyway.
But if only i have oven at home, then i can bake my own cookies/cakes/pizza and whatever it is that need to use oven.
Oh well, back to the topic. My sis bought Almond London and Pineapple Tart cookies.
Pineapple tart is very common, i think everyone heard and eat that before right?
So, have you try Almond London before? Almond london is one of the famous Raya cookies besides Kuih Makmur (my favourite!) and some other cookies, which i don't know the names. haha Basically, Almond london is a whole almond wrapped with cookie dough and coated with chocolate or you can use white chocolate too!
But since i don't have any oven at home, i can't really show you guys to to bake this cookies :(, maybe next time?
I search around and i found this blog for Almond London recipe.
So do check out this Blog Almond London (in english), or this Almond London ( in Bahasa Malaysia).

Recently my aunty gave me a box of kuih Bahulu. i never try or heard of it before..
Basically, it's just a normal sponge cake, a little crispy outside and soft inside. but it taste pretty good:) For the recipe....click here :)
Well, i hope this helps,goodluck! :)

It look like a fish-shaped right?

Movie Review: Friends With Benefits

Friday, August 19, 2011

Hey guys :D
I just watched Friends with Benefits last night and it was quite funny actually:D
Friends with Benefits is another romantic comedy movie staring Justin Timberlake , Mila Kunis(She's pretty) , Jason Segel, Emma stone(as supporting role) and etc! haha i like mila kunis!
Anyway, I prefer this movie more than No String Attached, you know the one starring Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher?
Both storyline ending is predictable where they actually fall in love with each other.
My favourite scene in this movie is when Dylan (J.Timberlake) finally realize how he feels about Jamie (Mila Kunis), so in order to get her back, he arranges a set up flash mob scene to surprise Jamie as she always wanted her life to be like in the movie. It's just a like modern fairytale huh?~
Haha well, i think that's all i can tell you here. i just don't want to spoil your excitement to watch the movie:)
But still, i think Friends with benefits is just a better version and more funnier than No string attached.
The soundtrack is for the movie is not bad too~
Check out this Semisonic - Closing Time, i can't stop listening to it right now.
By the way, the movie is not yet release in Malaysia, i download it yesterday :P Hopefully the movie will be release probably next month or sooner.

Home Recipe : Pumpkin Dessert

Wednesday, August 17, 2011

Have you try any pumpkin dessert before?
I learn this recipe from my mum actually. :D
I love eating my mum's pumpkin dessert because it is delicious and it's healthy too.
As we all know, pumpkin is an anti oxidant rich with potassium (which believe to lower the hypertension), zinc (good for your immune system), beta carotene and high in fiber.
Pumpkins has many other benefits to our health especially it's great for your skin because it contains alot of Vitamin A and C. so ladies, eat more pumpkins from now on:)
For my pumpkin dessert recipe, all you need is pumpkin, water, condensed milk, evaporated milk( optional) and sago.

If you don't like sago, no need to add in.
I like to add evaporated milk in my pumpkin dessert cause it taste better:D

Follow this steps!
1. So first of all, before you boil the pumpkin, you need to halve the pumpkin, remove seeds and everything ( don't forget to peel off the skin).
To skip this step, just go buy ready pumpkin from your groceries shop.
2.After that, cut it into small pieces and put it into your boiling pot.
3. Next, put water inside and boil it for about 25-40 minutes, or until it tender and soft.
4. Then, mash all the pumpkin in the boiling pot, so when this step is done...add in sago and condensed milk as much as you like. Keep boiling for another 5-10 minutes. And now, you can eat you pumpkin dessert. You can serve it while it's hot or chill it inside the fridge before you eat it.  Goodluck!

Borneo Facts

Some people or maybe i should say most of them don't know where is sabah especially those from other countries. That's okay because i also don't know much about other countries too, but at least i admit it :)
I get annoyed by someone, saying that i'm wrong about sabah.
Come on lahhhh dude.
You seriously think that you know everything just because you have been travel here before or maybe you do some research on Internet/Library or whatever information you have?
Let me tell you this.
Borneo is an island, oh yes i knew that! and I fucking know Sabah is a state of Malaysia and the location.
Gila eh, sa rasa mcm kena kena insult tetau apa2 pasal tempat sa sendiri?
haha do you think i fail my geography and history paper??? no, i don't.
But do you know Borneo consists of Sabah, Sarawak, Brunei and Kalimantan (Indonesia)?
Check out the map.
I get this map from Malaysia Map
Borneo Map
See that?
Borneo includes Sabah and Sarawak (part of malaysia), Brunei and Kalimantan ( Part of Indonesia). Borneo Island is divided administratively by three countries ( Malaysia, Brunei and Indonesia). I'm not going to talk about the Sabah conflict between Sultanate of Brunei and Sultanate of Sulu here.
Before independence in 1957, Sabah is not under malaysia.
Sabah is also known as north Borneo before it joined the Malaysia Federation in 1963. Then on 16th september 1963, Sabah and Sarawak was united with Malaya (known as Malaysia now) to form a independent of Federation of Malaysia.
That is how Sabah became one of the state in Malaysia. Bukan terus-terus.
I'm not actually going to waste my time to explain too much about sabah history and whatever it is.
The main point here sabah is actually part of borneo and borneo includes sabah. get it know?
it's just the same thing.
You're telling me that Sabah is a state of malaysia which is located on Borneo(northern tips). and The island called Borneo. Well, it's true and you're right actually.
But isn't it has the same meaning where sabah is part of borneo since it is located on the island called Borneo?
Maybe it's my fault for saying sabah is also known as borneo instead of saying sabah is a part of borneo. I deeply apologize for my grammatical error/typo anyway. And maybe because of that you try to correct me to prove that i'm wrong. But you know what, you no need to be rude.
and yes, obviously i know better than you. I just don't feel like arguing more for something that is worthless. So say what you want, i don't give a damn.

 More about sabah/Borneo..

Kuo Man Restaurant @ Suria Foodcourt and Movie review : Zookeeper

Tuesday, August 16, 2011

Have you heard about Kuo Man Restaurant before?
This shop actually appeared in the AEC chinese cooking programme before.
Honestly, i didn't know about this until i saw the AEC guy picture on the wall. Since there are many pictures and banner hanging on the wall,  I'm guessing some magazine and newspaper also write a review about this shop. :D Anyway, i found that there's another Kuo Man Restaurant (Main shop) at Jalan Tuaran, on the way to Likas? Just look for a row of old shops near Lanvin Bridal Shop or Razz Ma Tazz :D
Kuo Man is famous for its fish cakes, eggs and their beef slices. i don't feel like eating fish cake anyway, so we just ordered 2 Kon Lau men with Beef Slices and Stewed beef. Total paid for lunch is RM15.
After eating this for the second time, i think i love their ngau chap more than the one at Kedai Kopi New Man Tai. The soup taste SOOOOO delicious! very light and fragrant of course! Not only that, the beef is so tender and chewy too! i think they marinate it very well cause it taste so good!Anyway, that's just my opinion. Go have a try and rate the food yourself now:P

Movie Review : Zookeeper

So after lunch , we decided to watch a movie. If you like to watch comedy movie, i recommended you guys to watch Zookeeper. It was not that bad actually, its quite funny.
Long story to short, it's about the zoo animals trying to keep their zookeeper from quitting his job to please his ex-girlfriend. So in order to stop Griffin (Kevin James) from quitting his job, the zoo animals break the code of silence and start talking to Griffin and teach him how to get back his ex-gf in animal style. As for me, i think the most funny part is when Griffin (Kevin James) and the gorilla go for a ride to TGIF! That apple bottom jeans song rocks! haha anyway, that Stephanie girl ( Leslie bibb) is so annoying.urghh! she propose Griffin and the worst part is she almost kneel down to propose a guy in front of everyone! you know what, that's pathetic!
p/s girls out there, i know in today's world, man and woman should have the same level of treatment? hmm i can't think off any better words now so whatever it is.
But the point is, let man do his job! they are the one who should kneel down and propose us, not YOU! well i'm not going to tell the whole story here just incase some of you haven't watch it. :)
I give a rating of 7 out of 10. Enjoy your movie!
